Most AI storytelling tools free-associate: ask about a character or place twice and you can get two different answers. Embertold's game master retrieves passages from an indexed lore base before it narrates, so details about a universe's characters, locations, and history stay consistent from the first turn to the hundredth. You can query that same lore base directly with the Loremaster, in or out of a session.

Create a D&D-inspired point-buy character, pick an adventure, and the AI dungeon master handles the rest: narration, NPC dialogue, contextual action suggestions, health and inventory tracking, and chapter summaries so long campaigns don't lose the thread.
Optional immersion, not paywalled gameplay
Text play is free and unlimited. Turn on Immersion Mode when you want AI-generated scene images, ambient soundscapes, sound effects, and voice narration layered on top — all on a monthly credit allowance that resets every month, even on the free plan.

What is an AI dungeon master?
An AI dungeon master (or AI game master) is software that plays the role a human GM plays at a tabletop table: narrating scenes, voicing NPCs, adjudicating your actions, and moving the story forward in response to whatever you type. Embertold's AI GM does this using retrieval-augmented generation, so its narration stays grounded in the lore of the universe you're playing in rather than inventing contradictory details.
Do I need other players?
No. Embertold is built for solo play against the AI dungeon master — you create a character, pick an adventure, and start playing. Multiplayer co-op is on our roadmap, but it isn't available yet.
Is it free to play?
Core text gameplay — unlimited adventures, unlimited sessions, character creation — is free. Optional extras like AI-generated portraits, scene images, sound effects, and voice narration use a monthly credit allowance (including on the free plan), and cached results are free to reuse.
Does the AI dungeon master remember the story?
Yes. Sessions are split into chapters with AI-generated summaries specifically so long campaigns don't lose earlier plot threads once the raw conversation history grows past what fits in a single prompt.
